Intellectual Disability
The International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity is joining forces with Special Olympics International and Special Olympics Ireland to learn about the latest developments in intellectual disability to inform your research and practice.
Throughout the week, you will have the opportunity to learn about the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities at all stages of research and intervention design, implementation, and evaluation. Roundtables, Come and Try events, Posters, and presentations are dotted across the week.
An in-person half-day or full-day workshop to build your expertise: Hosted by Special Olympics International in Association with Special Olympics Ireland. These sessions address mild to profound intellectual disability.
Mental Health/ Psychosocial Disability
The International Symposium of Adapted Physical Activity is teaming up with Aclú to promote the use of physical activity, nutrition, and digital technology in a rights-based, recovery-focused mental health model. Aclú, a partnership between MTU and health services that aims to integrate holistic lifestyle initiatives into the care plans of people with long-term mental health issues. APA professionals are key in building expertise in this field.
A dedicated Mental Health Spotlight will take place on Thursday, June 19th, and plenty of other mental health sessions will occur throughout the week. This aligns with a human rights paradigm and SDG target 3.4 Noncommunicable diseases and mental health: By 2030, reduce by one-third premature mortality from non-communicable diseases through prevention and treatment and promote mental health and well-being.
Pre-conference CPD is available and included in your registration fee. This will be finalised during ISAPA2025 and certificates will issue.
